Chia Tai, as it was founded since 1921, and now under the name of Chia Tai Co., Ltd., was established exclusively as a seed firm by the two brothers, Messrs. Chia Ek Chor and Chia Seow Whooy. Directly after World War II Chia Ek Chor returned to mainland China temporarily and set up his own farm in Swatow with the avowed purpose of growing vegetable varieties to obtain special strains of stockseed for use and cultivation in farms throughout Thailand.
